Through the stories of an alter ego, Gao Yue, since 2020 I have been exploring specific aspects of the complex relationship between humans and nature, using the method of fictionalized historical reconstruction.
In The Diamond Saga, where Gao Yue is the protagonist, documents prove what has happened in order to create questions and blur the credibility of the narrative. I create extensive bodies of photographs, texts, and documents that testify to her life, bringing to life a narrative saga in which the documentary and historical essence of the photographic document becomes a way to conceive a believable science fiction—directed toward the past instead of the future.
Each chapter corresponds to a stage in Gao Yue’s existence and consists of a series of interdependent works that form a meticulous reservoir of testimonies. The line between truth and falsification is blurred: silver gelatin prints, papers, and slides serve as incontrovertible proof, yet are in fact the result of a skillful process of falsification, which, through the creative process, appropriates scientific and historical sources—particularly from neuroscience and biology.
Each chapter of the saga corresponds to a symbolic color-element, functioning as an epistemological interface.
